Medieval settlement of Soldov

Take a look at the past

There are various rumours and stories about Soldov that people from the Vazec and Strba villages have been serving from generation to generation. Some talked about treasures , others about tombs or bells. The folk tales were not far from the truth. The first scientific research took place in 1952, when a stone cross from the Great Moravia period (around 1000 AD), a Romanesque grave, human skeletons and other artifacts were found in Soldov near the village of Strba.

The historical problem with Soldov is that scientists cannot unequivocally identify the settlement, whether it is the original settlement of Strba from 1280 or it is a special settlement of Soldov in Strbsky county. Artifacts from various historical periods even prehistoria appeared on the site. Therefore, in 2013 architectural research was restored, in which the floor plan of the church, a rare organic material such as wooden beams, leather shoe, coins from the 14th - 15th century, buckles, even flint from the prehistoric period was discovered.

No matter how the research turns out, Soldov is a place worth visiting to commemorate the life of our ancestors.
