Nature is resting in winter ...

Winter closure in the High Tatras lasts from 11th November to 31st May. This is a time when nature and its inhabitants are resting and regenerating. In spring season it is a sensitive period of nesting and animals providing their offsprings. Among other things, it is also for the safety of us tourists, as many routes require great experience and the necessary winter equipment, and many sections are lavinous.

More winter trails ...

From the peaks in the High Tatras there is available Predne Solisko following the red sign from the Chata pod Soliskom (Cottage under Solisko). Mountains saddles are not open, except for Sedlo pod Ostrvou (Saddle under Ostrva). In the Western Tatras it is possible to go to peaks Smrek, Baranec and Plačlivé.

The Tatranska Magistrala trek is opened all year round from the crossroads of Tokariny in the Zapadne Tatry (Western Tatras) through Podbanske, Tri Studnicky, Strbske pleso, further through Trigan to Popradske pleso, Sedlo pod Ostrvou (Saddle under Ostrvou), Sliezky dom (Sliezky house), Hrebienok to Skalnate pleso. From there, the trail is closed up to Zdiar except for the trek Chata pod Zelenym plesom - Velke biele pleso (Cottage at Green lake - Great White Lake)
